Settled and Closed - Chicca v. Bank of the West

This action alleges Defendant Bank of the West, (hereinafter “Bank of the West” or “Defendant”): (1) discriminated against Plaintiff on the basis of his age in violation of California Government Code section 12940(a) by engaging in a course of conduct intentionally designed to discriminate against Plaintiff on the basis of his age; (2) retaliated against Plaintiff in violation of California Government Code section 12940(h) after Plaintiff complained of age discrimination; (3) failed to take all reasonable steps necessary to prevent discrimination from occurring in the workplace in violation of California Government Code section 12940(k); and, (4) wrongfully terminated Plaintiff because of his age and/or in retaliation for Plaintiff refusing to approve loans that violated both internal and external banking regulations, and bringing to Defendant’s attention the fact that certain loans did not comply with the internal and external banking regulations, in violation of California Government Code section 12940 and public policy, article I, section 8, of the California Constitution, California Government Code section 12940, and California Labor Code section 1102.5.

The parties were able to reach a settlement of all claims in this case. The case closed December 19, 2018.
